The Muse Competition |
Muses inspire all different types of artists in the development of their art. The head muse organizes a competition to see which of his muses can be the most successful in inspiring an artist they are assigned to guide. The competition is a great success and leads the muses to a discovery that changes the way they view their role. |
Perhaps you have seen a great painting, or read a fascinating book, or heard some music that you keep singing all day or watched a great performance on stage. Perhaps you yourself felt the urge to draw a picture, play some music, write a story, or perform for your family or friends. Now, all of these are forms of art and the creation of art comes from a force deep inside our spirits. This force is directed by artistic spirits that are called Muses, and these Muses live in, are trained in, and are directed from a place called Museland. It is a place full of the magic of artistic creation. Now it is important to understand how a Muse works. You see, a Muse is a spirit and, when it works to inspire a human Protege, the Protege has no awareness of the Muse's presence or influence. The Muse plants ideas, concepts, images into the mind of the Protege that results in the Protege reacting to the Muse's urgings. The Muse can also influence people around the Protege to do things beneficial to the Protege. A Muse's work is completely invisible to those whose minds he effects.
The Muses from Museland had been inspiring artists since the first humans began painting images on the walls of caves and began the first forms of music by banging on drums and making primitive flutes. The current Headmaster of Museland is a famous Muse by the name of Francois. You probably never heard about him, but you probably have heard of some of his human proteges. He was the Muse spirit behind Michelangelo's paintings, Shakespeare's plays, Beethoven's music, and Baryshnikov's dancing, and many, many more famous artists through the ages........
