Alicia was a very lonely girl. She was small for her age, not good with sports, wasn't very pretty, didn't do very well in school, and was awkward around other kids, In fact, it was kind of hard to be friends with Alicia and even hard to act friendly around her because she was often ignored or made fun of when she was noticed. Alicia tried to avoid the other kids and spent a lot of time by herself. One school day at recess, all the kids in her class were playing dodge ball on the playground. For some reason, she decided that she was going to join them and try not to be so awkward. It had rained the night before and the ground was wet and slippery. As she tried to avoid being hit by the doge ball, she slipped and fell, face first, right into a puddle of mud. When she picked herself up, everything from her face to her feet was covered in mud. Her dress was torn, and her knees were scratched She was quite a spectacle. Now instead of helping her, everyone, including some of the teachers pointed at her and laughed and laughed. They started calling her names and even picked up some more mud and through it at her. Alicia was so embarrassed and hurt, she ran away with her eyes full of tears.

There were some trees at the edge of the playground, out of sight of the hurtful kids. Under the trees was a water fountain and a bench. Alicia tried cleaning herself and sat on the bench totally dejected. To her surprise, from behind the trees, a very strange creature appeared. It spoke.

"My name is Alli, I've been watching, and I know how you feel. I've tried to speak with some of those kids and they either ran away from me or tried to beat me up. I come from a faraway place, another planet. Let me tell you my story........
