Freddy The Disapearing Ghost |
Freddy is a young ghost who tries hard to learn all the skills needed by a successful ghost. Despite all his efforts, he is disgraced and fails to graduate from Ghost College. However, he does develop one special skill – the power to make things disappear. This skill leads to both trouble and triumph as it leads him to a strange world where everything is opposite from things in his home world. |
Here in our world, ghosts live in a separate place. It's called Ghost land. It is invisible to us humans. But, although we can't see this place, it is part of our world. Very much like kids who live in our human land, young ghosts who live there, play games, go to school, think about growing up, and do other normal ghost things. Once in a while they do make themselves visible to us humans, but usually they just ignore us, only periodically appearing and playing some ghostly trick on us. Exceptional young ghosts are trained in a special school called Ghost College. It is hard for a young ghost to be admitted to this special place, but if accepted, they are trained to be really good ghosts, and all young ghosts really want to go there.
It was Halloween Eve, one of the few days of the year when ghosts make themselves visible. Mama and Papa ghost were having a great time flying across the streets of human land and practicing their Halloween tricks. This year, in addition to their Ghost College classmates of many years ago, they brought along their 3-year-old daughter, Penelope, to give her a chance to experience what it was like on this special night for ghosts. Now, Mama and Papa were not at heart scary ghosts. Although they enjoyed finding a group of human children while out on their Halloween rounds and surprising them with a scary jolt as they appeared out of nowhere, after the kids jumped, screamed, and calmed their racing hearts, Mama and Papa would let out a hearty laugh and give them all a nice juicy piece of candy before sending them on their way.
This Halloween was special. Besides having Penelope with them for the first time, Mama was also pregnant, expecting a new baby ghost soon. When born, they would name him Freddy. Although Freddy's mom and dad were so proud when Freddy finally was born, from an early age, Freddy showed signs of being a troublesome ghost........
